The use of firearms by the police in the UK
Though the figures I can find only go as far as 2000/1 it's fairly safe to assume that there hasn't been a huge increase in the number of police shootings in the last few years. What's not shown here is how many were fatal discharges. What it does show is that there's immense restraint in our armed police response teams.

In England and Wales and Scotland, firearms were discharged by the Police in.

9 incidents in 1995/96 from a total of incidents where firearms we authorized for use of 8671
13 incidents in 1996/97 from a total of incidents where firearms we authorized for use of 12649
5 incidents in 1997/98 from a total of incidents where firearms we authorized for use of 12134
15 incidents in 1998/99 from a total of incidents where firearms we authorized for use of 11184
10 incidents in 1999/2000 from a total of incidents where firearms we authorized for use of 11056
13 incidents in 2000/01 from a total of incidents where firearms we authorized for use of 11183

That's 55,964 total calls for armed police assistance and 52 times the guns were fired. We do not have a problem with policemen running around killing people.
